Twelve months ago HGC held a survey which addressed all areas of the club including, the course,
the clubhouse and the practice ground. The main issues members highlighted were given priority status, and these included;-
We have begun the process of addressing the top 3 elements and now want to give some time to completely
re-shape the practice facilities and incorporate a driving range.
Council have initiated discussions with a specialist organisation, Oakland Golf & Leisure, who provide
inert landfill to enable re-shaping of uneven surface areas. They have partnered with Jonathan Gaunt, a renowned
course designer to provide a plan of how such a project may work to the ultimate benefit of the club.
In principle HGC receive a fee per cubic metre of material, the amount of material that can potentially be
deposited is 100,000 m3. This would generate a substantial amount of money for the club. This money can be
retained in the club or be invested in a new practice ground / driving range facility.
Jonathan Gaunt has provided two options both are available to view.
At the club’s request Jonathan Snelgrove, MD of Oakland Golf & Leisure and Jonathan Gaunt have agreed to
hold a Q&A evening to outline the proposition in greater. They will also explain the approach,
including, planning permission, logistics, disruption, etc; outlining any constraints / potential issues. They
will also make time for an open forum where they will take questions from the floor.
The date for your diaries, Thursday 7th December for a 7.30 start for this presentation and Q&A session.
We have allocated 60 - 75 minutes to keep this focused and succinct.
All members are invited.
